EVPL Releases Free Publication to Engage and Entertain Evansville’s Older Adults
The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library (EVPL) offers countless pieces of literature for readers of all ages. And most of the time, you go to the library to read someone else’s work – until now. The EVPL is excited to announce the release of its own publication.
What is Pastimes?
It’s called Pastimes, and it was designed especially with our community’s older adults in mind. Each issue (it’s a quarterly publication) is a 24-page booklet that includes puzzles, games, reading recommendations, memory exercises, and other fun material.
Why the EVPL Created Pastimes
Kelli McDaniel is the EVPL’s Programming Librarian, and she explains how Pastimes came to be…
The pilot edition of Pastimes had an initial printing of a few hundred copies that were distributed at EVPL locations and through several community partners. The feedback was so positive that we had to do additional printing, and the initiative moved from a pilot project to part of EVPL’s ongoing program.
Designed with Older Adults in Mind
Pastimes is perfect for someone living on their own, with family, or in a senior living community. It’s a great way to exercise the brain and lift the spirit. It’s a great way to stay mentally active or just have a little fun. Oh, by the way, Pastimes is completely FREE! You can pick it up at any EVPL location or download it online HERE.
