Cancer Pathways Midwest is still a kind of a new name in Evansville, but for almost a decade, we've known them as Gilda's Club. This nonprofit organization is a huge asset to our community, providing support, education, counseling, and so much more to those fighting cancer and everyone around them.

Cancer Pathways Midwest offers individualized support and resources to anyone impacted by cancer. The services to their members are free thanks to the support of the community.

Holiday Fun and Dessert Auction

I had no idea that a dessert auction could raise so much money in a very short period of time. Cancer Pathways Midwest held its annual Holiday Dessert Auction at Bally's Evansville in December. It was a super fun night of crazy holiday sweaters, heads or tails, and a delicious pasta dinner.

Then we auctioned off super amazing desserts that were donated by local bakeries and bakers. It was a whirlwind of bids and sugar, and in the end we raised an incredible $27,000!

Everything changes when you hear the words, “it’s cancer.” In Feb. 2024, it will be 10 years of Gilda’s Club/Cancer Pathways Midwest providing support and resources to thousands of our tri-state family, friends, and coworkers, all at no cost to them! Unfortunately, the demand for individual support has TRIPLED over the past year due to: 1️⃣ Many receiving cancer diagnoses due to putting off their preventative screenings during COVID. 2️⃣ Families have multiple family members diagnosed with cancer at the same time. ‍‍‍ 3️⃣ Our community learning who we are and what we do by putting “cancer” in our name has increased awareness and the number of people walking through our door. The wait for basic mental health support alone is 6-8 months! Cancer Pathways Midwest provides oncology-focused mental health support, education, and resources to ANYONE impacted by cancer within 1-2 weeks. This acute increase is 2x what we could have foreseen and anticipated! The demand for oncology-focused support and resources is critical, and we are relying on the help of our donors and community partners so we don’t have to start the new year by turning individuals and families away.
