For more than a decade, WBKR Yard Parties have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for nonprofits across the tristate, all while bringing people together for good food and a great cause. And as our 2026 Yard Party season starts winding down, we've got a BIG one coming up this Friday!

This week's Yard Party benefits the Daniel Pitino Shelter, and Old Hickory Bar-B-Q is cooking up the brisket! If you know Owensboro barbecue, you know Old Hickory. We are so excited to have them join us for this Yard Party and put their famous barbecue to work for a great cause!

Daniel Pitino Shelter Yard Party Featuring Old Hickory Brisket!

Join us this Friday, September 18th, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the WBKR studios, 3301 Frederica Street, Owensboro.

And let me tell you what we're having for lunch because this is one you're going to want to pre-order!

$7 Brisket Lunch

Brisket sandwich, bag of chips, sweet treat, and bottled water

That's right. Old Hickory Bar-B-Q brisket for lunch for just $7! Old Hickory is our cooking sponsor for this Yard Party, and we're incredibly grateful they're helping make this fundraiser extra delicious. We'd also like to thank Nona's Market, Sam's Club, and New Life Church for their support and contributions.

You can pre-order your meals by calling 270-688-9000. Pickup will be available at WBKR, and delivery is available for orders of 10 or more. So, if your office wants to make Friday lunch a little easier, get a group together and we'll bring the brisket to you!

And because we're talking about a Yard Party, you know there's going to be a little something extra!

We'll also be giving away a pair of really good tickets to see Nelly at the Beaver Dam Amphitheater on Saturday, September 19th. And these aren't the kind of tickets where you're standing in the back wondering what's happening. They're seat-back tickets!

Nelly will hit the stage in Beaver Dam with Twista and DJ Shay, and the show starts at 7:00 PM CT. So you can grab your brisket at the Yard Party Friday, enter to win those tickets, and maybe your weekend will get a whole lot more exciting!

About the Daniel Pitino Shelter

The Daniel Pitino Shelter provides a safe and secure place for women, women with children, and families experiencing homelessness. The shelter also offers Housing Stabilization programs and connects people with community resources to help them move toward stable housing and a better future.

We've only got two Yard Parties left for the 2026 season, so see us Friday, grab some of that incredible Old Hickory brisket, enter to win the Nelly tickets, and help support the Daniel Pitino Shelter.

We'll see you at WBKR!

A big shoutout to Bakos Party Rentals for keeping WBKR Yard Party Season looking good year after year! They've been hooking us up with tables and chairs for more than a decade, and we couldn't do it without them.
