Illinois State Fair Draws Record Crowds, But Was It Biggest Ever?
Attendance at the Illinois State Fair and Du Quoin State Fair broke records this year, providing a major economic benefit to the communities.
Illinois State Fairs Draw Record Crowd
In a press release on Monday (9/22), Governor JB Pritzker announced that combined attendance at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield and the Du Quoin State Fair surpassed 1 million in 2025.
"Illinois state fairs are a part of a time-honored tradition for generations of famalies," Pritzker said. "This year's attendance figures are proof of the enduring value of state fairs."
Strong Numbers for State Fair in Springfield
The Illinois State Fair in Springfield drew 723,079 people, the second-largest turnout in its history, according to the press release.

Grandstand ticket sales were fueled by record-breaking crowds, highlighted by Megan Moroney's concert, which sold 15,532 tickets, breaking last year's Lil' Wayne record crowd.
Livestock and commodities also saw big results, with the Governor's Sale of Champions generating nearly $294,000.
Du Quoin Breaks Records
In downstate Illinois, the Du Quoin State Fair welcomed 282,202 visitors, shattering its 2024 record of 204,004.
Concerts from Little River Band, TESLA, and Tucker Wetmore boosted Grandstand sales, while carnival rides logged 245,000 spins.
Campgrounds filled with 625 permits, and the Illinois Product Expo topped $25,000 in sales.
Economic Impact
A national study found that fairs across the Midwest generate $2.7 billion annually, which for Illinois means hotel stays, full gas tanks, and packed local businesses.

The 2026 Illinois State Fair will run August 13 through 23 in Springfield, followed by the Du Quoin State Fair from August 28 through September 7.
