This is the Best All-You-Can-Eat Buffet in Indiana

One website claims that this southern Indiana restaurant is home to the best all-you-can-eat buffet in the entire state. Can you guess which one it is?

I know that buffets sometimes get a bad rep from people, but I love them. Let's be honest, when you go to a restaurant, sometimes one plate just isn't enough. Buffets allow you to eat as much as you want. Growing up here in southern Indiana, my parents always went out to eat at various buffets like Golden Corral, Siroloin Stockade, Ryan's, Old Country Buffet, and Ponderosa Steakhouse. Something about "all-you-can-eat" just makes me happy, because it reminds me of my childhood. As you know, there are all kinds of buffets in Indiana, from traditional buffets to Amish buffets, and of course, Chinese buffets.

Recently, the food website, Mashed, found the best all-you-can-eat buffet in each state. Here's what Mashed said about finding each state's best buffet:

We set out on a grand tour to find out what was hiding inside the chafing plates of this country's best surviving all-you-can-eat options. We excluded all-you-can-eat-buffet chains with a significant national presence on our list of each state's best buffet. While there are undoubtedly some great Golden Corrals and Shoney's out there, the buffets you're about to meet are local legends.

The Best All-You-Can-Eat Buffet in Indiana

According to Mashed, the best all-you-can-eat buffet in Indiana is one that can be found in the Amish country of Martin County. That honor goes to Stoll's Lakeview Resturant, right on West Boggs Lake in Loogootee. I have family that live right down the road from Stoll's. Ironically, they're Amish and also have the last name of Stoll. This place is amazing! If you've never had the opportunity to try out Amish cooking, you're missing out! You will definitely get your money's worth eating here.

Stoll's Lakeview buffet takes the traditional flavor from Amish Country and heads down south into Martin County. The buffet serves the cuisine from Amish strongholds in Elkhart and Lagrange counties in a building on West Bogg Lake in Loogootee. An unlimited supply of Amish comfort food makes for a smashing success, and the buffet is the #1-rated restaurant in Loogootee on Tripadvisor. While the proprietors aren't afraid to embrace modern technology to keep the buffet running, the unique restaurant hasn't been redecorated since the 1980s. For decades, it's been serving the same fried chicken and continuing to enjoy success.

Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Stoll's is absolutely amazing. You'll be back up for seconds (maybe thirds) for sure!

Outside the major cities, the Hoosier state is full of tiny little towns you've probably passed through on your way to one of those cities. Most of them are likely 100 to 150 years old, or older, and have been around far longer than the large metropolitan areas such as Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Evansville. Typically, they were started by early settlers who found their way to the state and decided to make it home. Eventually, others would join them, and a community was formed. Over time, as the surrounding areas grew, most of them were folded into those areas and governed by the nearest city or county's governing body officially making them "unincorporated," meaning they did not have their own formally organized municipal government.

A scroll through Wikipedia's long list of unincorporated communities in Indiana shows several of them have names that by today's standards would be considered weird, quirky, or just downright right funny. These are my 40 favorities.
