Illinois is now the most hated state in America, but what exactly led to the state earning such a poor reputation? Let's explore.
I've lived in Indiana most of my life, and I can honestly say I enjoy living here. It's a mostly quiet and rural area, with plenty to do on a budget if you know where to go. The Hoosier State is liked by most, ranking No. 31 on a list of the most hated states in America by World Population Review. However, its western neighboring state didn't fare so well.

Apparently, Illinois Is Terrible
Despite Illinois' export prowess, the state itself seems to have some issues, as indicated by World Population Review. Illinois is one of the fastest-shrinking states in the U.S. and has experienced a 0.54% (more than half a percent) decrease in population in recent years. High taxes seem to be driving the trend, along with a declining job market and high cost of living. Overall, 25% of Illinoisans say their state is the worst in the nation.
