Some sad news to share this morning, though, given recent circumstances and the ongoing public health crisis, the news isn't entirely unexpected.

The International Bar-B-Q Festival, Inc. Board of Directors announced, on the WBKR morning show today, that it will officially cancel the 2020 International Bar-B-Q Festival due to concerns about the coronavirus outbreak.

Allen Payne, the 2020 Event Chair, says, “We feel it is in the best interest to follow the guidelines put in place by federal and state officials to avoid mass gatherings. The health and safety of our community remains our top priority.”

The International Bar-B-Q Festival was scheduled to take place on Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9, 2020. As of right now, there are no plans to postpone or reschedule the event this year.

The International Bar-B-Q Festival was established in 1979 and this will be the first time in the event's history that it has been canceled.
