We have this really fun tool that we use here at work called Crowdtangle. It allows us to see all the social media that's trending in our area so that we can be on top of what you need to know.

And though it's not a great source for breaking news, Instagram is probably my favorite social media because it's all about the visual aspect of our world. There's no politicking or opinions - at least on my Instagram. If you use Instagram for that, you are doin' it wrong and we just won't be Instagram friends!

Anyhoo, I was scrolling through all the local Instagram accounts that had a viral post recently, and one of them stuck out to me. It's called Evansville_Overlooked. There are currently only about 11 photos in the account but the photos that have been posted are pretty powerful. It shows you the side of Evansville you probably don't regularly see.

Most of the photos focus on the homeless but some of the photos are of buildings and areas of town that most people ignore.

I decided to reach out to the account owner since thee was no name on it. I wanted to know what made this person decide to capture these intimate images and what is in store for the future of the account.

Turns out a gentleman by the name of Dustin Jude is the curator. He told me that it was faith and drinking coffee that led him to start this account.

A good friend of mine and his wife have a coffee shop on Main. I would sit and just watch. So many people I would see digging through the trash cans and eating the food out of it; sleeping on benches and under trees. It was such an eye opener. So, I started this page but I wasn't sure the direction I wanted to go with it. Homelessness awareness is the main thing.

I love the 'E is for Everyone.' I think it's a great thing we have going, especially the stories of success. I just feel like people need to also look at what's going on. Which is why I came up with the "overlooked." Pictures of the struggle and the people that have to go through it or the buildings and places that get overlooked.

Thank you to this photographer. I appreciate your art and hope to see more in the future.
