Indiana State Police Warn of Phone Scam for Fallen Officers
The Indiana State Police are warning residents of a phone scam in which the scammer asks potential victims for the families of officers killed in the line of duty.
Public Information Officer for the Evansville District, Sergeant Todd Ringle, issued the warning Friday morning on Twitter.
If you, or someone you know, like an elderly family member who scammers typically target, receive a call like this, simply hang up the phone. However, if you believe that either you, or someone you know, have fallen victim to this latest scam, file a report with the Indiana State Police post in Evansville at (812) 867-2079.
