Hungry? Do You Know if its Illegal to Eat While Driving in Kentucky? [VIDEO]
Ever been so hungry you hit the drive-thru and immediately open the bag to shove in a mouth full of burger and fries? Did you know it could be illegal to do that in Kentucky?
WE'VE ALL DONE IT
Maybe I shouldn't admit in public that I've eaten while driving but it's true. I actually have done it on multiple occasions. I have a busy life and have to be efficient with my time. Now I'm learning this may not have been the best thing to do. I was reading an article from out of Illinois that asked the very same thing of drivers in that state and it got me to thinking I wonder what the law is in Kentucky.
IS IT ILLEGAL TO EAT WHILE DRIVING IN KENTUCKY?
I have discovered there are a bunch of strange laws in Kentucky but eating while driving is not one of them. So there is actually no law against eating while driving in any state in the US. The issue comes from being distracted while driving.
For instance, Angel here let's talk about the time when I was a Sophomore in college and I went to Sonic to get a slushy. I was in my mom's car and put the slushy in the cup holder so I could drive. I grabbed a drink of it while I was driving down the road and went to put it back and missed and it fell on the floor. I thought I could pick it up and leaned over to get it causing the wheel to move. The car ended up in the back of a parked pickup truck. Not one of my finest driving moments.
Thankfully, no one was hurt and my mom was super understanding. This just proves the whole distracted driver scenario. Whether it be a cheeseburger in your hand or your phone you need to be focused on the road and nowhere else so that you and everyone else on the road stay safe.
Even though it isn't a law a police officer can pull you over if they feel like the food you're eating is causing a distraction while you're behind the wheel.
