It's been a good five days for Evansville High School Sports. After beating Indianapolis Park Tudor in the Jasper Semistate, the Mater Dei Baseball Team is preparing for the state title game this Saturday. Not to be outdone, the Harrison Warriors Golf Team returned from the state championship tournament as the best team in the state.

Led by senior Sean Stone, who also claimed an individual state title for his efforts, the Warrior's started Wednesday's second round of the tournament eight shots behind two-time defending champion Brébeuf Jesuit.

Stone, who until Wednesday had never won a high school golf tournament while playing for the Warriors, started his day on the back nine by shooting a 29 putting him at seven under par going into the front nine. Although he finished his round with a double bogey on the second to last hole and wrapped up his day with a bogey on the final hole to end the day at three under par, Stone had done more than enough to put the title in the Warrior's hands, even though he wasn't aware of his or the teams standing during his round.

“I thought Dylan (Meyer, the Central sophomore who shot a first-round 69 to lead) was in at 3-under,” Stone told Steve Ford of the Evansville Courier and Press. “And I thought we were one behind as a team when I finished badly.”

Obviously that wasn't the case as the golfing Warriors returned to Evansville to a warm welcome from the community on top of a firetruck. Way to go gentlemen! Congratulations!
