A Local Adventure

Over the weekend, my husband and I decided to do a bit of a local adventure.  I bought a piece of furniture off of Facebook, and went to pick it up, but it was located in Ferdinand, Indiana. Ferdinand is about a 45-minute drive from Evansville, so my husband and I decided to just make a day out of it and go to some places we don't often get to visit.

Our first stop was St. Benedicts Brew Works, a brewery in Ferdinand located on the grounds of the Sisters of Saint Benedict which is one of the largest Benedictine communities of women in the United States.  If you enjoy beer and pretty scenery, you've got to stop by St. Benedicts Brew Works (and I highly recommend the honey mustard Prayerful Pretzels that are made by the Sisters of St. Benedict for a salty treat).

Then we decided to head over the Huntinburg, Indiana where I FINALLY got to try dill pickle pizza!

Dill Pickle Pizza

Last year the Indiana State Fair debuted dill pickle pizza, and the internet went bananas over it.  First of all, this isn't a pizza with marinara and then pickles as toppings, no no, this pizza has a dill ranch base, cheese, pickles, and plenty of dill sprinkled on top.  It even won the award for best new food at the state fair last year.

Dill Pickle Pizza in Southern Indiana

When my husband and I decided to do our little Southern Indiana adventure on Saturday, we made the trip over to Huntingburg to try out Yard Goat Artisan Ales, which is a brewery and restaurant.  Let me tell you, I have been sleeping on Yard Goat (and Huntinburg, there are so many cool little shops and restaurants there)!

My husband and I went to Yard Goat for lunch, and I was super surprised to see dill pickle pizza on the menu.  I have been wanting to try this style of pizza ever since it went viral last summer.  Let me tell you, it lived up to the hype! I think my *ONLY* critique, is more dill ranch base.  That's it.

While at Yard Goat, we tried a couple of their artisan ales and also got a Korean BBQ pizza to try which was also fantastic.

So all of this is to say we will definitely be making a trip back to Huntingburg, and I see more dill pickle pizzas in our future.
