Embark on an Epic Journey with Evansville Public Library’s Summer Reading Celebration
As young people celebrate the end of school and the beginning of summer break, parents are trying to find ways to keep their kiddos, and maybe even, Heaven forbid, learn something. As always, the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library (EVPL) has your back, and they just announced details about this year's Summer Reading Celebration.
2023 Summer Reading Celebration Details
The EVPL's Summer Reading Celebration will begin on Thursday, June 1, and will wrap up on Monday, July 31. This year's theme, Our Summer: Begin Your Journey, hopes to remind readers of all ages that learning is a journey, and the EVPL is here to help and support them along the way. The EVPL's Programming Manager, Erika Qualls Barnett, says,
Whether your journey is one of self-reflection or to a new galaxy, the library is excited to be part of your trip. EVPL encourages everyone to start a new adventure or revisit some favorites during our summer reading celebration.
How Does the Summer Celebration Work?
The first step on your summer reading journey is to get registered - which is FREE and easy to do. Readers of all ages can register at one of the kickoff events listed below, or by visiting any of the seven EVPL locations, or online at EVPL.org.
Registered readers get a prize right off the bat - they also receive a coupon book to use at an EVPL Foundation Book Sale or at the EVPL Foundation Book Store located in the lobby of the EVPL Central location. Then it's time to start your journey and get to reading. The more books you read and the more activities you complete, the more entries you get toward winning one of the grand prizes.
