Mac Miller's tragic death on Sept. 7 from an apparent overdose at the age of 26 has the hip-hop world in shock, but the untimely death of the rap star is also reaching outside the bounds of the rap arena. Legendary singer Elton John recently paid homage to the late Pittsburgh rapper during one of his shows in the MC's home state.

John performed in Allentown, Penn. on Saturday night (Sept. 8) as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which featured the singer putting on a huge three-hour long set. During a break in the action, John took the time to shout out the late rapper and dedicated a rendition of his song "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" to Mac.

"I would like to dedicate this song to Mac Miller, who unbelievably, at 26 years of age, passed away yesterday," he said while sitting behind a piano. "It's inconceivable that someone as young that has so much talent can do that. I would like to pass all of our love and best wishes to his loved ones, his family, his friends. And Mac, wherever you are, I hope you are happy now."

Mac's death has been a hot topic over the last few days, with many people in the hip-hop community offering condolences and statements on the loss.

Though Mac is believed to have died from a suspected overdose, authorities recently revealed the rapper's Los Angles house appeared to have been cleaned before police could launch their investigation, which led to them only locating a small amount of white powder in the home.

A vigil for Mac Miller is set to take place this Tuesday (Sept. 11) at 7 p.m. EST at Frick Park in Blue Slide Park in Pittsburgh.
