Drake Breaks Record for Most Weeks at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 This Decade by a Male Artist
Drake continues to make music history as his hit singles top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. With "Nice For What" hitting its second week at No. 1, Drizzy has now racked up a total of 33 total weeks with songs at No 1. on the Hot 100, surpassing Bruno Mars with the most of any male artist this decade.
The 31-year-old MC has notched six chart-topping hits over the course of his career dating back to 2010, when Rihanna's "What's My Name" took the No. 1 spot. Drizzy achieved the accolade as a lead artist for the first time in 2016, with "One Dance" and "Work" spending time at the top. He later returned this year with the previously mentioned "God's Plan" and "Nice For What" giving him a combined 13 weeks at No. 1 in 2018.
Bruno has had seven No. 1 records of his own this decade. He made his debut when assisting B.o.B. on "Nothin' On You," followed by "Just the Way You Are," "Grenade," "When I Was Your Man," "Uptown Funk" and, most recently, "That's What I Like."
Artists to come will have to thank the Toronto native and Mars for helping pave the way for hip-hop and R&B to move into the mainstream lane of consumption.
Drake will look to carry his momentum into the summer as he gears up for the release of his mysterious album, Scorpio, in June.
