The Ford Center will play host to one world's most renowned acrobat shows when the famous Cirque du Soleil brings its newest production, TORUK - The First Flight, to the Ford Center for five performances Thursday, September 1st through the 4th.

According to a press release provided by the show's promoter, TORUK is inspired by the characters and world of James Cameron's Academy Award-nominated film, Avatar, taking place "thousands of years before the events depicted in the film", and centering on two young boys who must brave the elements in order to save the "Tree of Souls". For those not familiar with the film, the Tree of Souls is basically what keeps the fictional planet of Pandora alive.

The four-day run 7:30 p.m. performances on both on September 1st and 2nd, two shows on Saturday, September 3rd at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., and a final performance at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 4th.

As you can see in the video below, TORUK will blend once again blend the theatrics and acrobatics Cirque du Soleil is known for worldwide.

Tickets for all shows are available to Cirque Club members now, with tickets going on sale to the general public starting this Friday, May 20th at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Ford Center box office, and through the Ticketmaster website.
