Memorial Day weekend marks the kick off of summer, meaning its time for a trip or two (or several) to Burdette Park Aquatic Center!

Having grown up on the west side of Evansville, I've been a frequent visitor to Burdette Park pool since I was a kid. I still remember the thrill of canon-balling off the high dive, and making trek after trek after trek up the hill to ride the White Lightening water slides after they first opened. My bare feet beat to death by the end of the day from the concrete path that led to the start of the slides.

Much has changed since those days, all for the better with the addition of two kids slides and a spray park.

Both the pool and miniature golf course will open for the 2014 season this Saturday, May 24th, 2014 and remain open daily through August 11th from 10AM - 6PM Monday through Thursday, and 10AM-7PM on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. After August 12th, both will be open on weekends only through Labor Day.

Of course that's not all Burdette has to offer. My family and I enjoy walking or riding bikes through the trails. Plus, there's the campground area, multiple playground facilities, and the BMX bike track.
