Batman is one of the things I love most in this life. I loved the Nolan Batman trilogy and Tim Burton's portrayal of the caped crusader. Superman has always been a character that I really don't have an opinion on. I get the appeal but I'm not a fanatic. Comic fans everywhere have been in anticipation of the upcoming Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice movie, set for release in March. Last night a new trailer debuted and whoa boy, does it look bad.

I have no idea what this movie is trying to do. The last two trailers had me cautiously optimistic about the film. This new trailer, however, reassures me that this film is going to be a mess. This trailer starts out with Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent being super passive aggressive towards each other while discussing their alter egos. Jessie Eisenberg's Lex Luthor interrupts them before things get too heated. Jess Eisenberg's Luthor makes me want to punch him directly in that terrible wig of his. I was already concerned about the character based on the last trailer, but this new one solidifies that it's going to be real bad. Eisenberg lack's the quiet confidence needed to portray Lex Luthor.

The new thing that the trailer shows is that there will be an actual villain in the film, in the form of Doomsday. Doomsday is a 90's character responsible for the death of Superman. Will they try to force that storyline into the movie? Probably. This movie is the official jumping on point for the upcoming Justice League movie, so why not add something else in? At the end of the trailer, we see Wonder Woman making an appearance with no context whatsoever because screw you, moviegoer. Also, we've yet to see Aquaman who is also in this movie.

Overall, this movie is going to be really bad. DC wants to be Marvel so bad that they are desperately trying to get their giant team-up movie off the ground without doing the slow-burn that Marvel did. Marvel was only successful because they had years to build anticipation and get the audience invested. DC is taking a shortcut by cramming everyone into this movie and it's going to suffer. Hopefully I'm wrong about everything and the movie turns out to be OK, but I'm not betting my kryptonite on it.

Here is the trailer in case you haven't seen it yet.
