Alex Trebek is a cultural institution, a beacon of knowledge and grace under pressure. Everyone loves him. Which is why it’s always amusing to watch the unflappable host of Jeopardy say silly words and phrases in that reliable deadpan of his. A recent episode of the immortal game show saw him forced to say the name “Turd Ferguson,” which should amuse anyone with a passing knowledge of modern comedy.

That silly name, of course, comes from a famous SNL “Celebrity Jeopardy” sketch, which saw Norm Macdonald’s Burt Reynolds tormenting Will Ferrell’s Alex Trebek using enormous novelty cowboy hats, intentionally incorrect answers, and that awesomely immature fake name.

As you can see in the video above, one contestant (and obvious comedy fan) decided to use Final Jeopardy to force Trebek to participate in a reference to that SNL bit. With no way of actually winning (just look at the cash totals of her competitors), she answers a question about Oscar-nominated songs with “What is The Love Ballad of Turd Ferguson?” And since Trebek must read every answer out loud, he actually says Turd Ferguson. Commence your giggles.

The weird tragedy of this whole thing is that this woman surely knew the answer to this question, “Blame Canada” from South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut. If she knew Turd Ferguson, she probably knew that. Still, using your final moments on television just to make a Turd Ferguson joke is truly heroic. Rock on.
