Best known for her role as Whitley Gilbert on the 1987 'The Cosby Show' spinoff, 'A Different World', actress Jasmine Guy will make her way to Evansville on January 20th to serve as keynote speaker for the University of Southern Indiana's annual Martin Luther King, Jr. luncheon.

After getting her start on Broadway, 'A Different World' marked Jasmine's crossover into the world of television which also lead to bit parts and one time only roles on a variety of other shows before landing a starring role on the short-lived Showtime series, 'Dead Like Me' along side Mandy Patinkin in 2003. She has been seen mostly recently in the role of Sheila 'Grams' Bennett on the CW series, 'The Vampire Diaries', and is currently filming the movie, 'Big Stone Gap' with Ashley Judd, Jenna Elfman, Whoppi Goldberg, and others.

Tickets for the annual luncheon which will also include performances by community groups and the USI gospel choir beginning at 11am inside Carter Hall on the USI campus, are available for $15 each, and can be purchased by calling the USI Multicultural Center at 812-465-7188.
