2013 Boonville High School graduate, Garrett Ward was taken far too soon when he died in a boating accident a few summers ago. His family and friends will continue to honor his memory on Saturday, June 3rd during the 4th Annual "Smokin' for Garrett" barbecue competition to support the Garrett Ward Memorial Scholarship.

Taking place a the Warrick County 4-H Fairgrounds from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the event is open to the public and will feature delicious barbecue from a total of 48 teams (35 professional and 13 others in the "backyard division"), a silent auction, and live music from Daniel Epperson, Timmy Dunn, and Different Decades throughout the day.

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to purchase samples from the competing teams and help decide the winner of the People's Choice Award, as well as purchase full barbecue dinners to enjoy on site, or take home.

The event is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society and counts towards the State BBQ Competition for Indiana, meaning visitors to the event are in for some serious barbecue!
