When the Indiana State Individual State Championship gets underway June 10th, the Mater Dei Wildcats will have one player in contention looking to become a state champ.

The school's Facebook page announced on Tuesday morning that Lauren Marx will be making her way to Indy next weekend to compete for state gold.

Marx advanced to state after defeating Columbus North's Aubrey Smith, 6-1, 6-0 in Saturday's semistate round. The win not only kept Marx undefeated on the season, but also marked the first time in three tries she defeated Smith.

Who Marx will face next weekend is up in the air as far as I can tell. The IHSAA website doesn't provide a tournament bracket like it does for say basketball, football, baseball, etc. Instead, it details a four-step process by which pairings are determined.

However it plays out, we wish Lauren the best of luck in bringing home a state title!
