The 2016 MLB Draft wrapped up on Saturday, and when all was said and done, three recent Mater Dei graduates found themselves with the opportunity to live out their childhood dreams of playing professional baseball.

Hunter Owen and Jackson Pokorney were the first to go. Both were multi-sport athletes at Mater Dei playing football as well as baseball.

10 rounds after the selection of Pokorney, Mater Dei alum, Tyler Walsh, currently a Junior at Belmont University, was taken by the Texas Rangers.

Considering where they were selected, all three will likely spend a few seasons in the minor league farm systems of their respective franchises before hopefully getting a shot to show their stuff on a major league field.

Congrats to all three gentlemen on their selection. From one Mater Dei grad to another, Go Wildcats!
