You may think you don't have an extra $20 in your monthly budget to become a Partner in Hope with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, however I'm here to tell you that if you look at where your money goes, finding that extra $20 to help fight childhood cancer is easier than you think.

Morning Beverage

I'm a coffee drinker, but I've started a really bad habit of picking up an energy drink of some sort at the gas station I pass on the way into the station every morning. That's anywhere between $2.50 - $3.00 per morning. Sound familiar? If you're morning routine includes a stop for a cup of coffee, a soft drink, energy drink, or whatever, cutting that out of your routine will not only give you the $20 to help the fight against childhood cancer, but may keep you a little healthier as well.

Out to Lunch

Unintentionally, I think this list is starting to become more a wake up call for me as I realize there are quite a few ways I could save money. Going out for lunch almost every day is certainly one of those ways. At 6'3" and roughly 230 pounds, it's nothing for me to drop $10 or more on one lunch at a fast food joint. By bringing leftovers or a sandwich and chips from home TWICE out of the average 30 day month, that's another $20 St. Jude can have.

Date Night

If your currently monthly budget includes a few trips to the movies with your significant other, or getting together with friends for a few drinks, try grabbing a DVD, some microwave popcorn, or ice cream and staying in for one of those nights. Or stick to just one thing on your night out. Go to dinner, but not a movie, or just a movie, and have dinner at home before you leave. Not only will you find the $20 bucks you need to be a Partner in Hope, you'll find yourself saving a lot more cash for other things as well.

Lottery Tickets / Extracurricular Activities

If playing the numbers game each week is your thing, sit back and think about how much you're dropping on those scratch-offs, or the weekly Powerball drawing. My guess is that it's quite a bit, and probably more than you'll ever get back. Now I'm not suggesting you quit altogether, but maybe you scale it back $5.00 each week. Over a four-week period you'll have the $20, plus you'll still be able to try and score that big payday.
