Writing a Song Parody It’s Not as Easy as it Sounds: LISTEN/WATCH
As soon as the 'Baby Yoda' excitement began, I kept thinking that there had to be a parody song using 'Do you Hear What I Hear?' But there had to be more that just one line or a verse, so I've had this plan in the back of my head for a while. Now that we are into the holiday season, and I've actually watched The Mandalorian, I knew it was time.
I decided to put the pressure on myself, by telling Bobby that I would have a surprise for him Thursday morning. I didn't give him any clue as to what I was up to. In fact, he didn't know that he would be singing lyrics that I scribbled down, live on the air! I like to keep him living on the edge.
I've written a few little parodies before, like our amazing Fresh Prince Fall Festival promo. This project was a little more involved, and I actually tried to tell the story of 'The Child'. The most difficult part of writing a parody song is trying to find words that rhyme, and re-writing lyrics, without copying the original, but using the same music.
Bobby is basically a professional singer / rapper. I am the song writer, and together, we bring you this 'Out of this Galaxy' parody.
