Thanksgiving is just a couple of days away and we know lots of folks have questions about the proper and best way to cook a turkey for the holiday.  The UK Cooperative Extension Office here in Owensboro/Daviess County is coming to the rescue with Grab and Go Turkey Kits that you can literally pick up outside their office on the campus of Owensboro Community and Technical College.

Here's a look at what you'll find inside: cooking and safety tips, nutritious and cost-saving recipes and, of course, a free meat thermometer.

According to the Daviess County Cooperative Extension's Nutrition Education Facebook page, the primary focus of the program is "Turkey Talk/Food Safety!"  The Grab and Go bags are "full of information on proper care of your turkey, and all the trimmings. Also included is a meat thermometer, recipes, and a coloring book and crayons for the kiddos!"

And, again!  The bags are absolutely FREE of charge and are available on at the UK Cooperative Extension Office.  The address is 4800A New Hartford Road here in Owensboro.

And, don't forget, the 4th Monday of each month, our friend Kelly Bland, from the office, joins Angel and me for our What's Cookin'? segment.  She always brings in delicious Kentucky Proud recipes that are quick and easy to make, affordable and healthy.

Here's a prime example.  Yesterday, Kelly joined us with an insane biscuit recipe.  I'm sure you've had a cheddar biscuit from Red Lobster at some point in your life.  Well, this recipe gets really close and throws in some broccoli and carrots for good measure.

Kelly brought some to the WBKR studios and I can assure you- they are DELICIOUS!
