What You Need to Get Before Fall Fest is Over
I'm a fat kid at heart...and here lately, I've been a fat kid in other places, too. I made the situation better by attending the annual Nut Club Fall Festival on Franklin Street this week. While I tend to get the same things each year, I tried a few new treats this time around.
I had to try the deep-friend PB&J. I've heard so much about it and I'm always down for a good PB&J. It was AMAZING. As you can see (pictured below) it's an Uncrustable, or something similar, deep-fried and topped off with powdered sugar. YUM! I got mine at booth 17 - Pleasant Chapel General Baptist Church. The workers were super nice too, so they get double points.
Next up, I tried deep-fried sausage balls with creme cheese. Holy heart attack these things were DELICIOUS. I could've eaten 50, but I limited myself to one serving. I love anything sausage, so these really hit the spot. I dipped them in ranch as well, and I wasn't disappointed. I snagged these at booth 117 - Faith Church. You've gotta try them.
If you read my previous blog, you know I am a lover of the pulled pork parfait. People can't seem to get enough of these. The line literally goes out into the street every year! I was fortunate enough to get there early and avoid a big line, but I would've waited however long it takes to get my pulled pork parfait from booth 114 - OBC of Evansville. There's several booths that have these, but the OBC is the best, in my opinion.
Lastly, you KNOW I had to get my go-to...SAUSAGE BURGER! My stomach literally starts growling the second I see the Chuck Wagon set up on Franklin Street. I can't get enough of their sausage burgers. It's probably the only thing I get each day I'm down there, no matter how many times I go. I've tried to duplicate these burgers at home and had little success. No one does it like Corpus Christi. P.S. - Get it with cheese. You won't be disappointed.
I've also heard that booth 20 has a bacon wrapped pronto pup that I HAVE to try. I mean, come on, that sounds incredible.
If you haven't tried any of these tasty treats, you better get on it! I can't wait to head back down this weekend and sample some more goodies.
