What Does Warrick County CASA Do?

CASA is a nationwide organization that stands for Court Approved Special Advocates. It was founded 45 years ago in 1977 by Superior Court Judge, David Soukup in Seattle, Washington after he became "concerned about making drastic decisions with insufficient information" in cases involving abused or neglected children who had no parent or guardian qualified to speak on their best interests in the courtroom. Judge Soukup created the idea of everyday citizen volunteers who would work closely with each child to determine what exactly would be the best outcome for them in their respective cases and fight for them to receive that outcome in court.

In the over four decades since, CASA has expanded to 951 state and local programs nationwide. According to Warrick County CASA, 88 of the 92 counties in the state of Indiana have CASA programs.

Warrick County CASA Hosting First-Ever Holiday Gala on November 11th

As with any non-profit organization, Warrick County CASA relies on donations in order to continue its mission. Those funds are acquired through year-round donations by individuals through the program's website, as well as through fundraising events such as their first-ever black tie event, the Holiday Gala set for Friday, November 11th.

The gala will take place at the Funxion Events Center at 112 East Main Street in Boonville beginning at 6:00 PM.

The night will include live entertainment, along with both a silent and live auction. Food will also be provided in the form of "gourmet stations" throughout the event center where you'll have the opportunity to sample a variety of food items throughout the evening.

Tickets for the event are available now for $125 per person or $1,000 for a group of ten and can be purchased through the organization's website. All proceeds from the event will be used locally by Warrick County CASA to not only continue to recruit, screen, and train future advocates, but to also assist the organization in being Santa for more than 200 kids served by the program this Christmas.
