Vectren Investigating Possible Gas Leak in Downtown Evansville
Several individuals in and around downtown Evansville have reported smelling an odor similar to that of natural gas leading crews from Vectren to investigate the possibility of a leak near the area of Third and Locust Streets.
Natalie Hedde, a Vectren representative, told Jessie Higgins of the Evansville Courier & Press they had received several calls about the smell and had crews in the area to try and figure out where it's coming from.
Our own Digital Managing Editor, Ashley, called me shortly after leaving our office in the Fifth Third building downtown Tuesday afternoon and asked to me check the social media accounts of local law enforcement and Evansville Watch after she noticed the odor herself. At that time (roughly 3:30 p.m.) no one had posted anything.
As of this writing, the cause of the odor has yet to be determined, however Hedde told the Courier & Press Vectren would provide updates as they learned more.
