Vanderburgh Sheriff’s Department Warns of FBI Phone Scam
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a new phone scam involving a con artist claiming to be from the FBI.
According to the Department, an individual calls potential victims claiming to be either Alex Morgan or Thomas Ryan from the "US Government". The scammer has also shown the ability to spoof the victim's caller ID to give the appearance of a legit phone number.
Sheriff Dave Wedding wants to remind the community that the FBI will never call an individual to threaten arrest, ask for money, or request personal information.
If you or someone you know has received this type of call, you're strongly encouraged to contact the Evansville office of the FBI at 812-423-4486.
