There’s a Fun, New Festival Coming to Owensboro That Celebrates Local Farms

There's a brand new festival coming to Daviess County, Kentucky and it's going be a celebration of food, fun and farms. Summer Farm Fest is the first signature event for My Sister's Keeper, a brand new emergency shelter for women and children in Owensboro.

Executive Director Angel Welsh made the official announcement this morning and unveiled the lineup of musical acts and special guests.

Summer Farm Fest is set for Saturday, August 19th at The Cottage, which is located on HWY 56 in West Daviess County, just outside the Owensboro city limits. According to Angel, My Sister's Keeper is "partnering with Marlene Knight and her crew to bring a super fun event with live and local music artists, vendors and food." Plus, Independence Bank is sponsoring a Barnyard Children's Area with face painting, grab bags and more (while supplies last). Plus, there will be a dance party for adults at night with Blue Line Entertainment.

In addition to a bunch of live music, there will also be food trucks! Plus, The Cottage will remain open for a full-service coffee bar and they will have their trademarked Owensburger available. Having judged the 2022 Owensboro Burger Week (when The Cottage unveiled that burger), I can attest that it's delicious.

The cost to attend Summer Farm Fest is $25 per carload.

What may be the most "super fun" and special part of Summer Farm Fest is the opportunity to recognize local farmers. My Sister's Keeper is calling on you to nominate your favorite local farm and, by the time the event rolls around, they will narrow those nominations to five finalists. During Summer Farm Fest on the 19th, you'll be able to cast one dollar votes for your favorite farm.

The farm that gets the most votes will be named Summer Farm Fest Farm of the Year and will win a really fun prize and the Farm Fest traveling trophy to display at their farm for the next year. According to Angel, "Farmers have been so supportive of MSK we want to make sure and let them know how much we appreciate each of them!"
