Illinois Student Thankful For Teacher Who Has “Given Her A Will To Live”
In a classroom setting, words speak volumes because they have the power to educate, inspire, and shape the minds of students.
For this Illinois teacher, what she is expressing inside her classroom has changed the life of one student for the better and given her a "will to live."
Congratulations to 97ZOK Teacher Of The Week
Shannon Broenneke from Freeport Middle School!
Shannon was nominated by a sweet student named Averie. Get your tissues ready, you'll be in a puddle of tears by the end of the letter:
"I feel Ms. Broenneke should be teacher of the week because she's always so nice. She's changed mine and many others' life in so many ways. She's given me a will to live.
She motivates me to keep pushing. She treats us like we're people and not just students. She makes us feel loved and comfortable. She's always been so loving and helping. She never puts us down and never makes us feel unloved. She's like a mother to most of us and a friend to all. She will always help us when we need it.
She's a very positive person. She makes me feel safe. She makes me want to go to school. Even with all the chaos, she stays calm and comforting. I truly love Ms. Broenneke, and she has changed my life for the better. There's been multiple times where I've had bad anxiety and she always works with me to help me calm down and be able to function. I feel blessed to have her as a teacher."
As Teacher of the Week, Shannon was surprised with a cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes and money to spend at WM Day Spa Salon.
Here's Shannon & Averie enjoying the cake together!
If there's a teacher in your life who deserves recognition because they're speaking volumes in the classroom, tell us about them - we want to surprise them with gifts!
