Todd Winiger, a Mater Dei High School grad now living in Houston, Texas joined me by phone on Tuesday to discuss how he and his family are handling the historic flooding that has left much of the city he now calls home under water.

Todd and I have been friends for nearly 25 years, since our days at Mater Dei. He and his wife, Stephanie, along with their young son, Jack, moved to Houston a few years ago after the company he works for (Pluckers Wing Bar Restaurant) moved them there to manage a few of their locations.

Fortunately for Todd and his family, their house sits on higher ground, so despite their street being under nearly waist-deep water, their home has remained dry. However, they're not out of the woods yet. As Todd mentioned during our conversation, authorities in the area are warning residents more power outages could be coming as trees begin to topple due to the ground becoming so saturated with water the roots can no longer hold them up.

Check out my complete conversation with Todd below, and if you'd like to help the relief effort, text the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation to the Red Cross, or visit the Red Cross website.
