I’ve always been a “one” pet kind of person. Growing up, I had a cat named Pete who was my one and only. He was technically a barn cat but lived to a remarkable 22-year-old. We had other pets too, but Pete was special—he was mine, and I was his.

After Pete passed and I moved out, I wanted a small dog for companionship and a bit of protection. That’s when I met Chaz. It was just the two of us for years before I met my husband and we got a puppy together. I loved Kodi Bear, but Chaz was my dog, and I would’ve been content with just him.

When Chaz passed at 17, I quickly got another dog, and now Bruiser is my constant shadow. My daughter has a cat, and while we’ve talked about getting another dog, I’m happy with just one. Bru is happy being an only dog too. He likes company but is always ready for them to pack their bags and head home.

If you are like me and are a single person or family that is good with only one pet, meet Arrow. (And bonus, you don't have to feel guilty about not adopting more!) Arrow wrote his own personal ad...

Hi I'm Arrow

SWD Seeks S Family to Snuggle and Love

Hi there! I’m Arrow, and I’ve been waiting here at the shelter for 104 days, hoping to find my perfect match. I’m a joyful, belly-rub-loving dog who absolutely adores people. I’d be thrilled to be the only pet in your home so I can give you all my love and attention.

I’m healthy, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on my vaccines, ready to be the center of your world. I don't like stinkin' cats and am picky about my dog friends. I'm not picky about my family though! I don't care if they are thin, fat, short, tall, or what color they are! If you’re looking for a loyal and loving companion who will make every day brighter, I just might be the one for you. Ask the staff about my adoption fee and help me find the forever home I’ve been dreaming of. Please share my story and consider bringing me into your heart and home. I'll love you forever. -Arrow

Bourbon is our pet of the week and he's quite the handsome charmer. He's a two-year-old terrier mix(ologist) who's ready to be the life of the party at your home. He's a 'spirited' companion and likes playing, walks, and friends (of the human and animal kind).
