Shameless – The Weekend Binge

OK, I'm going to be 100% honest: I just started watching this show last night. However, in the five episodes I watched (and the five hours that disappeared in an instant), I've already decided this is going to be one of my favorite shows.

The show follows the Gallagher family from the southside of Chicago. The main focus of the show is the family dynamic the Gallagher's have. Fiona, the oldest of 6 kids, has to keep everything together while trying to make sure her alcoholic father (played by the always amazing William H. Macy) doesn't die or get arrested. The family barely has enough to make ends meet but they do whatever it takes (and I mean anything) to make it work.

One of the main selling points the show offers is how much sex happens. I'm only five episodes in and I've needed several cold showers. The show presents sex with the frequency some shows present hugging. It does add to the overall story and isn't just there to be filler. Also, the type of sex portrayed has something for everyone.

This show is the best kind of dark comedy. Yes, the situations the Gallaghers find themselves in are often horrific, but you can't help laugh at how straight-forward everything is. If you've been looking for a show that is purely for adults, this is something you need to watch immediately. All 6 seasons are currently streaming on Netflix.
