Today's entry comes from 1992 and features tongue-twisting rhymes, words you'll never find in a dictionary (because they're made up), and references to '90's pop culture including an ad campaign for a popular brand of breakfast cereal. Today I give you...Das EFX.

The two piece group is made up of members Krazy Drazyz (born Andre Weston) and Skoob (born Willie Hines) both of which were raised in Brooklyn but didn't meet until they were both students at Virginia State University. They set themselves apart from other groups in the '90's with their rapid-fire delivery as well as their affection for making up words, and adding extra syllables to their verses.

Their biggest hit was They Want EFX (video below) from their debut album Dead Serious. The album sold over a million copies back in '92 and turned out to be the highlight of their career. Three more albums followed with the most recent being 1998's Generation EFX.

Let's get to the video. I'm not sure what's going on here, but apparently some type of catastrophic event has taken place that has caused any and all survivors to retreat underground. It's also apparently quite cold as everyone is forced to wear heavy coats and Carhart overalls while carrying torches for warmth. Also, whatever this catastrophic event happened to be included a drastic change in the air quality that only effects certain people. Those unfortunate souls apparently must live out the rest of their miserable existence wearing gas masks. Oh, one more thing...there must also be some type of evil dictator behind the whole thing because anything that may provide an ounce of happiness such as music equipment and 40's full of sweet malt liquor are blown to bits.

It's also possible that the group simply thought it would be cool to shoot the entire video in a subway tunnel with torches wearing gas masks and heavy coats while blowing stuff up. Because, let's be honest, blowing stuff up is always cool. Either way, watch the video.
