In 1991, Hook and The Addams Family dominated box offices, a dozen eggs went for less than a dollar and some of contemporary pop and rock's most memorable acts were just getting their starts. Now, their endurance in the biz could pay off in dividends.

This year, a whole new batch of artists officially becomes eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 2017 class. Musicians qualify for the distinction 25 years after the release of their first records, which means the next ceremony could spell out big things for Alanis Morissette, Boys II Men, Ricky Martin and others. None are guarantees, of course, but we certainly spot some deserving additions, especially when criteria, according to the institution's site, rest on "an artist's musical influence on other artists, length and depth of career and the body of work, innovation and superiority in style and technique [and] musical excellence."

So, could Tori Amos join the likes of N.W.A., Chicago and Steve Miller, who each found a space in the hallowed museum this year? Could Seal wind up with a spot among Green Day, Joan Jett and Ringo Starr, who were all part of 2015's selection? Above, we've collected some newly eligible acts we think have the best shot at the Hall of Fame — flip through the gallery and share the reason for your pick in the comments.
