It's hard to believe, but Friday is New Year's Day and we're FINALLY going to make it our of 2020 and into 2021.  Well, the folks at the Owensboro Museum of Science and History are making sure that we ring in the New Year in style.  On Thursday, the museum is hosting their annual Noon Year's Eve balloon drop.  The only change this year?  Due to COVID-19 concerns, this year's event will be virtual.  However, it's going to be a blast!

The Owensboro Museum of Science and History has again teamed with Prof G Entertainment Services for the event.  My buddy Chad Gesser always serves at the DJ for the in-person balloon drop and he'll be serving up the playlist Thursday during the virtual drop as well.

I got the opportunity to serve as a special guest emcee last year and had an absolute blast.  This year, I will be back, serving as the virtual master of ceremonies from 10:30am to 12:15pm, Thursday, December 31st!

In addition to a variety of special guests and some really cool science and history demos, there is an arts and crafts component to this year's Balloon Drop as well.  We're going to be showing you how to make your own New Year's Eve party hats and we have pre-packaged kits you can pick it to get ready for the big day.  The New Year's Even Party Hat Kits contain a small package of crayons, stickers and other fun items to use to decorate your hat.  Plus, there's stuff to help you create a noisemaker!  Museum members can pick up their kits Wednesday (Dec 30th) from 10am to Noon or 1:30pm-4pm.  Non-members can pick up bags/kits as well for a $5 per family fee.

So, if you're looking for a unique and fun way to ring in the New Year with the kids, join us online Thursday for the Virtual Noon Year's Eve Party and Balloon Drop.  The fun gets underway at 10:30am on the Owensboro Museum of Science and History's official Facebook page.

And, to give you an idea of how the Balloon Drop works, here's a look back to 2018.
