Year after year, we have seen the level of talent Owensboro and western Kentucky have to offer. From Goldie's Survivor in the 2000s to the opening slot for the Big O Music Fest to Friday Night Fights, we have seen, actually, a couple of GENERATIONS of terrific talent, I guess.

Owensboro Chosen as a Host for Nashville Talent Showcase Preliminaries

Whether or not that was a factor in the decision-making process that led to Owensboro being chosen as one of four sites for a prestigious talent competition preliminary is unclear. But we can still beam with pride, nonetheless.

The national contest is known as the Nashville Talent Showcase, and it's being presented by the Inspirational Country Music Association.

Nashville Talent Showcase Preliminaries Part of Friday After 5

That's right. Owensboro has been selected as one of four preliminary competition sites; Jennings LA, Vicksburg MS, and Fort Worth TX are the other three. What's more, the Nashville Talent Showcase preliminaries on Friday, June 16th will be a part of Friday After 5; the competition will be held at the Atmos Energy Amphitheater.

So, in addition to a powerhouse night of entertainment, we'll also learn the names of the two contestants who will advance to the Nashville Talent Showcase finale which will be held during the pre-show portion of the Inspirational Country Music Association Awards (ICMAs) on March 23, 2024.

What Contestants Will Need to Submit

Contestants will need to submit a link to a 3-to-4-minute-long video--YouTube, TikTok, Facebook--which will serve as an introduction to them and their song. By the way, songs performed in the competition cannot be any longer than 4 minutes. For a complete list of rules and guidelines, visit

But wait, there's more. Second-and-third-place finishers will also receive very nice prizes. Competitors will not only be going for a spot in the Nashville Talent Showcase, but will also have a shot at recording an EP, getting a radio release, and being involved in a writing session with some of the best songwriters in Nashville.

Get those submissions in and we hope to see you at the Atmos Energy Amphitheater on June 16th.
