Owensboro HydroFair 2021 Schedule of Events (VIDEO)

The month of August has been packed full of excitement for Owensboro. Coming out of the air and hitting the water the Owensboro HydroFair 2021 is this weekend and we have the schedule.

HOW LONG HAS HYDRO RACING BEEN IN OWENSBORO

The hydroplanes have been a part of Owensboro since the 1960s.  They were very popular drawing crowds in the thousands.  The last races took place in 1979 when a variety of different conditions caused the decline in crowds and popularity.

WHAT SHOULD MY FAMILY EXPECT AT THE RACES?

There are 60 teams headed to Owensboro from the United States and Canada.

According to owensborohydrofair.com;

The 60 hydroplane teams are separated into seven classes in which they will compete for the titles. These boats are fast, powerful, and loud, reaching up to 170 MPH and spraying water high into the air as they rip through the river. The race course will be an oval-shaped track of 1.25 miles beginning and ending in front of the Owensboro Convention Center, and drivers will cycle the track four times.

SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEKEND

Just like the Air Show, they will have practice runs before the actual event.

Saturday, Aug 21, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Qualifying races

Sunday, Aug 22, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM Qualifying races

Sunday, Aug 22, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Championship Races

If you're looking for something fun to do after the HydroFair you can stay downtown and enjoy music on the river.   Live on the Banks start at 7 p.m. and is completely free.
