Last year was my daughter's first year in 4-H, and she absolutely loved it. The highlight of her experience was the Warrick County 4-H Fair. In 4-H, participants choose projects to work on, and these projects are then judged at the fair. It was amusing to see the wide range of projects on display, from corn stalks to cows. My daughter took part in two projects last year: sewing and horse & pony. She sewed a pair of denim shorts that she proudly wore to the 4-H fashion review, and she also showcased her horse in various classes.

I kept thinking about how much fun it would be to complete a project and submit it for judging. But alas, I missed my chance 25 years ago to compete in the fair, right? Imagine my surprise when I was perusing the May-June 4-H newsletter and discovered that anyone can participate in the fair by completing and submitting projects! Immediately, I began strategizing and considering which classes I wanted to enter.
