Freeform ‘Misfits’ Reboot Gets Pilot Order With New Cast

Cloak, Dagger and the New Warriors won’t be the only super-powered youngsters running around Freeform. New reports suggest that fan-favorite UK drama Misfits is finally getting an American reboot, now granted a pilot order with its cast already assembled.

According to Deadline, a pilot order has been given to the Americanized Misfits under Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire, with iZombie alum Diane Ruggiero-Wright serving as writer and showrunner. The new cast includes Ashleigh LaThrop, Tre Hall, Allie MacDonald and Jake Cannavale (yes, son of Bobby), with their characters described thusly:

Lathrop will play Alicia, a spoiled, vapid, middle-class party girl who seems to have three main goals in life: have fun, look hot and get guys. Hall plays Curtis, a talented and cocky football player with a promising career ahead of him who is used to everything going his way. MacDonald plays the tough and trashy Kelly, who is street smart with a hair-trigger temper and a penchant for beating the crap out of people. Cannavale plays Nathan, a con artist and thief with a heavily inflated sense of his own attractiveness, intelligence and potential.

The original 2009 series followed five juvenile delinquents who gain superpowers after a strange electrical storm, and ran for five seasons. Regular and recurring cast included everyone from Game of Thrones stars Iwan Rheon, Michelle Fairley and Ellie Kendrick, to Preacher cast Joseph Gilgun and Ruth Negga, among many more.
