When it comes to finding the hope and inspiration to overcome adversity, you don't need to look any further than Evansville native and 2012 Nation Easter Seals Adult Representative, Ben Trockman.

A Harrison High School grad, Ben's life changed forever at the age of 17 when a motocross accident left him with a C-3 spinal cord injury and extensive paralysis. His accident led him to the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center where he has become an inspiration not only for the other patients, but the entire tri-state area. It's hard to say how I would have responded if it were me in Ben's position, but I can say that Ben has used this moment to become a champion for the Easter Seals cause. As the National Adult Representative, Ben has been traveling the country speaking on behalf of Easter Seals. He's already made stops in Washington D.C. and New Orleans, with trips to San Diego and Chicago still to come. Ben was also recently awarded the "Celebration of Leadership" Award during the annual Leadership Evansville luncheon back in March.

Ben hasn't let his injury stop him from furthering his education either as he is currently a junior at USI studying for a degree in Public Relations.

You're opportunity to get up close and personal with Ben and meet this local hero is coming up on Tuesday from 4-6pm at Old National Bank on the corner of Main Street and Riverside Drive in downtown Evansville. The open house will include a short program at 5pm and light refreshments will be provided.
