Lane Restrictions Planned for Veterans Memorial Parkway

Folks who commute daily into downtown Evansville will soon see some lane restrictions.

We are entering construction season here in the Evansville area. So this means that you will see a lot more of the orange barrels, detours, and lane restrictions. As you know, there are a lot of areas in Evansville that will probably be affected throughout the year, but one, in particular, will be happening very soon that you might want to note.

Lane Restrictions Coming to Downtown Evansville Road

If you have driven in downtown Evansville lately, you know that there's already a lot of construction going on. Several interactions are blocked off currently, making it hard to get around at times. Now, we can add some more construction to that list. The Indiana Department of Transportation recently announced lane restrictions for Veterans Memorial Parkway in Evansville.

Many people who commute into downtown Evansville try to avoid the Lloyd at all cost, so they take I-69 to Veterans Memorial Parkway to make their way into downtown. If you're one of those people, here's what you need to know about the upcoming lane restrictions. According to The Indiana Department of Transportation:

<p>Beginning on or around Monday, April 3, crews will restrict the east and west bound driving lanes of Veterans Memorial Parkway. This restriction will occur between Water Works road and the entrance and off ramps near Kentucky Avenue. These restrictions will allow crews to perform roadway lighting work.</p><p>Work is expected to last through the end of April. During restrictions a 50 mph work zone speed limit will be in place. Both lanes will have a width restriction of 14 feet.</p>

During this time, drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews. So, give yourself a little more time in the mornings if traffic is typically heavy on your commute. Oh, and be patient with these lane restrictions after work. I know by that time you are just ready to get home, but for the safety of the crews and other drivers, follow the speed limit, and everyone will get home safe and sound.
