Lando Calrissian Will Not Appear in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’
Star Wars Celebration began today in Orlando, notably with a touching five-minute tribute to the late Carrie Fisher. But there was an additional tidbit of news regarding the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Billy Dee Williams, who was part of the 90-minute panel that featured the tribute video, announced that, alas, he would not be appearing as Lando Calrissian in The Last Jedi.
Fans had long been hoping that Lando might show up in some regard in Episode VIII, joining fellow original trilogy characters Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2D2 and C-3P0, all of whom appeared in The Force Awakens.
Despite Williams’ confirmation, fans of Lando won’t have to wait too long to see the scoundrel back on the big screen. Donald Glover is set to play him in 2018’s untitled Han Solo film, currently in production under the direction of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, with Alden Ehrenreich as Han.
