Who would love a job working with zoo animals all day?!  Taylor Springel is a 2015 Kentucky Wesleyan College graduate and the newest zookeeper for the Mesker Park Zoo.

Kentucky Wesleyan College is super proud of its alumni and loves to keep up with their lives.  Yesterday, I was checking in with their Facebook page and noticed they had posted this:

I reached out to Taylor and asked her how her career journey helped her to land a job at Mesker here's what she had to say:

I majored in zoology at KWC and have had lots of experience in the animal field since! I had three internships during the summers while in college, two at SeaWorld Orlando and one at Marineland for animals training. I then landed my first job at SeaWorld San Antonio as a Husbandry Assistant. I worked there for almost two years and moved around within the park working with penguins, puffins, flamingoes, small mammals and reptiles. Then I moved to Oklahoma City and work at the OKC Zoo as a Marine Mammal Caretaker working with sea lions and seals. I worked there for a year and a half and wanted to work closer to home (Henderson, KY) and started looking for openings at Mesker and it all worked out! Mesker was where I got my very first zoo experience as a ZooTeen back in high school so it’s exciting to be able to come full circle!

Being able to truly continue doing what you love and set out to do in college is absolutely amazing.  We couldn't be more proud of Taylor and all of her accomplishments and even more of her heart for all animals.

From one KWC Alum to another:  Thank you Taylor for keeping that Panther Pride!
