Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Announces Massive Spring Surplus Auction

You gotta love surplus auctions, right?  It would be unusual to attend one that wasn't positively LOADED with items on which you can bid.

But it's not just that there is a LOT of merchandise. It's the variety. These auctions set themselves apart from the rest not just because of all the surplus stuff, but also because you'll find a lot of confiscated property as well. I think they're a blast even if I don't come away with anything.

But I would imagine plenty of Kentuckians will hit the jackpot when the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources holds its spring surplus auction this Monday, May 1st on its campus at 1 Sportsman Lane in Frankfort.

As is typical with surplus auctions of this nature, there will be no pre-purchase inspection of items which will be sold as is. And only qualified Kentucky residents may bid at the auction. Additionally, there are some items that will require a criminal background check before they can be purchased.

Here is the entire list of items that will be up for bids at the KDFWR auction on Monday, and, as you can see, there is a TON of hunting equipment:

Registration will begin at 8 AM (EST) with the auction to commence one hour later.

Why Have the Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Surplus Auction?

This is the first time the KDFWR surplus auction has been held in two years and the first time it will be conducted in person since before the pandemic. Fish & Wildlife really doesn't have these auctions on a set schedule; it's more of an "as needed" situation. The department explains that here:
