Keaton Jones Viral Video Proves We Must Do More to Stop Bullying

In just over a minute, Keaton Jones became the voice victims of bullying need, and the one we all must listen to.

The video below was shot by Keaton's mother after he asked her to pick him up from school before lunch because he absolutely could not bear being bullied again. It's tough to watch, but it's one the must be — by everyone. Parents, kids, school administrators, everyone.

I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I'm innocent when it comes to instances of bullying. I was a kid once, and I know I said things to other kids that I now have no doubt caused them to react the same way Keaton did. And if I'm being completely honest, there has likely been a few instances in adulthood. To anyone I have ever hurt with words that have come out of my mouth, I am sorry. I'm also sorry it took watching this video, or reading stories about young people who took their own life because bullying became too much for them to bear, for me to realize it.

Stories like Kenton's are a good reminder that we need to talk to our kids about the importance of speaking up when someone is relentlessly bullying them, or the impact their words and actions have on people. More discussion and education will hopefully lead to less videos like these.
