It looks like Kanye West won't be performing as a headliner at Coachella 2019 as initially rumored. The reason? Blame stage design restrictions and West's larger-than-life expectations.

TMZ reports that the rapper has pulled out of negotiations with the annual music festival after Goldenvoice, the company which produces the event in Indio, CA every spring, was unwilling to accommodate West's vision for his performance stage design.

Sources told the tabloid that "negotiations fell apart" after the production company would "not allow the stage to be altered or removed for Ye's performance."

Allegedly, the rapper was "adamant he wouldn't perform on a traditional 60x40 foot stage because it was 'artistically limiting'"—which is, like, the most Kanye thing ever, if we're being honest. (To be fair, his stage did literally lift up and move over the crowd during his 2016 Saint Pablo tour, so it's no wonder he want to keep his stage presence, um, elevated.)

While Coachella's 2019 lineup has not yet been announced and no headliners have been confirmed, it's rumored that Childish Gambino, Justin Timberlake and Rihanna are potential contenders to take the main stage.
