Three Southern Indiana Area Hospitals Received ‘A’ Safety Ratings
You know what we could all use a little more of these days? Good news. And today, I've got some to share - especially if you live around Evansville and Southern Indiana!
The Leapfrog Group, a respected national nonprofit focused on patient safety, just released its Fall 2024 Hospital Safety Grades. And instead of focusing on the negative (which, let's be honest, some outlets love to do for clicks), we’re celebrating the amazing work being done by our local hospitals!
First, a quick rundown: Leapfrog uses up to 30 different national performance measures - from trusted sources like the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services - to determine each hospital’s letter grade. Their process is thorough, peer-reviewed, and was even published in the Journal of Patient Safety. So when they hand out grades, you know they’re well-earned.

Congrats to the following Southern Indiana area hospitals for getting top marks - an A rating for each!
Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, IN
Deaconess Henderson Hospital in Henderson, KY
And let’s give a big shout-out to area hospitals that earned a solid B rating, which is still a very strong showing!
- Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville, IN
- Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN
- Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN
Now, here’s the exciting part: Indiana didn’t have a single hospital earn a D or F grade! That’s something to feel really proud of.

At the end of the day, it's great to know that when it comes to safety, our hometown hospitals are doing a stellar job. Let’s hear it for the healthcare heroes keeping us safe and healthy every day!
